We invite you to visit our scenic alpaca farm to experience first hand the alpaca farming lifestyle, whether it is to simply meet our alpacas and shop our fibers and fashions Farm Boutique, or to explore the alpaca farming business, and the rewards of alpaca ownership and investment.
Northwoods Alpacas has been raising, breeding, boarding, training, shearing and working with alpacas and their fiber for over 11 years. We send our fiber to two national fiber co-operatives, in New England and Tennessee. At the co-op the fiber is sorted, processed and graded by a dedicated staff of textile experts who maintain rigid quality control standards. As co-op members, Northwoods Alpacas is able to select the highest quality end products to be sold at our Farm Boutique and our Field to Fashions online store.
We also purchase from US companies that produce alpaca clothing in Peru, native home of the alpaca. We work exclusively with companies who maintain the highest ethical workplace standards, providing Peruvian people gainful employment and a higher standard of life.
Our sweaters, socks, hats, gloves, and yarns are made from soft and luxurious alpaca fleece. Alpaca fiber is similar to sheep wool, but lighter in weight, stronger, silkier to the touch, not prickly, and warmer with no lanolin. It is this lack of lanolin that makes the clothing hypoallergenic. Alpaca fiber is also sustainably produced and harvested, making alpaca a natural choice for today's eco-conscious consumer.

Northwoods Alpacas is home to almost 50 alpacas! There will be several cria, or baby alpacas to see, as 4 (so far) were born this month and you will have a chance to name 2 of them in our NAME THE CRIA CONTEST. The farm will be open to tour - so grab a donut & cider and tour the farm with informative signs about why we raise alpacas and how funny they can be. We have several alpacas for sale, so whether you are looking for pets or want to get involved breeding them, we have beautiful alpacas to choose from. The farm store will be opening for the season and it is stocked with all our basics that you love and lots of new items too! It’s never too early to start that holiday shopping! This year we will be featuring our own alpaca jerky and snack sticks. Food for the alpacas will also be available. Bring your cameras for fun family memories!
