Northwoods Alpacas has been breeding alpacas for over 8 years. Our knowledge of alpacas includes breeding, birthing, boarding, training, shearing and fiber preparation. We send most of our fiber to two national cooperatives: New England Alpaca Fiber Pool & Alpaca Fiber Cooperative of North America. As members we ship our raw fiber to them each year and they coordinate the grading, sorting and processing. We then get to select end products for our shop. The staff are dedicated textile experts and they are able to maintain rigid quality control standards. We know you will appreciate the results. We also purchase from US companies that produce alpaca clothing in Peru. We buy from companies with the highest ethical standards. This provides the Peruvian people employment and a higher standard of life.

Our sweaters, accessories, and yarns are made from soft and luxurious alpaca fleece. Alpaca fiber is similar to sheep wool in some respects but lighter in weight, stronger, silkier to the touch, not prickly, and warmer with no lanolin. It is this lack of lanolin that makes the clothing hypoallergenic. Alpaca fiber is also sustainably produced and harvested, making alpaca a natural choice for today's eco-conscious consumer.
